LineLoom v1.0.0 Released — Now on Visual Studio Marketplace and Open VSX
Published: October 19, 2026
I'm excited to announce the first stable release of LineLoom v1.0.0, my free and open-source extension for Visual Studio Code.
Following its public preview releases, LineLoom is now available through three distribution channels: GitHub Releases, Visual Studio Marketplace, and Open VSX Registry.
What is LineLoom?
LineLoom is a local-first coding assistant focused on inline code completion.
It allows developers to receive context-aware suggestions in VS Code using a configured Ollama model.
Rather than requiring an account or mandatory hosted inference service, LineLoom gives users control over their model settings and completion behavior.
Features in v1.0.0
The first stable release includes native VS Code inline autocomplete, multiline suggestions, per-language model selection, Quick Actions, and privacy-aware source-context handling.
LineLoom supports Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, and Kotlin, along with experimental Go, Java, C, and C++ support.
It uses bounded active-document context, has no built-in telemetry, and requires explicit approval for configured remote inference endpoints.
The extension is free and distributed under the MIT License.

Release quality and ongoing development
v1.0.0 includes automated package verification, source checks, unit testing, and mocked-model extension-host integration testing.
Additional hands-on verification and real-model performance testing remain ongoing.
Development will continue with a focus on reliability, developer experience, documentation, and compatibility.
