LineLoom v1.2.0 Released — Smarter Local AI Autocomplete for VS Code

Published: October 20, 2026

LineLoom v1.2.0 has officially been released as a stable version, bringing improved editor integration, better visibility into local AI inference, and additional privacy-focused safeguards.

The free and open-source Visual Studio Code extension uses Ollama to deliver context-aware inline code completions through developer-configured models.

The new release is available through GitHub, the Visual Studio Marketplace, and Open VSX.

A more powerful Control Center

One of the most important improvements in v1.2.0 is the native LineLoom Control Center.

Accessible through the VS Code Activity Bar, it brings together completion controls, current model settings, active-editor information, and privacy-related configuration status.

Developers can more easily inspect the state of their autocomplete setup without repeatedly navigating through different settings and commands.

Improved completion visibility

The latest release adds clearer status information for the completion engine.

States such as ready, generating, disabled, unavailable, and error help explain what the extension is doing.

The Control Center also includes privacy-friendly session information, such as request counts, cache hits, cancelled requests, and reused completion continuations.

Optional performance diagnostics can display measured latency after valid samples are collected.

More robust Ollama integration

LineLoom v1.2.0 improves Ollama error categorization and model discovery.

The extension provides clearer messages for connection failures, missing models, timeouts, and unexpected server responses.

Additional validation helps reject malformed model catalogs and prevents outdated model selections from being applied after endpoint configuration changes.

Local-first development remains the priority

LineLoom is designed around developer control.

The default configuration uses a local Ollama endpoint, and no LineLoom account or mandatory cloud inference service is required.

The extension includes workspace trust checks, file exclusions, and explicit approval requirements for remote HTTPS inference.

There is no built-in LineLoom telemetry or automatic repository-wide indexing.

Developers using approved remote endpoints should be aware that code snippets can be transmitted to those servers.

Programming language support

LineLoom currently supports nine language IDs:

Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, Kotlin, Go, Java, C, and C++.

Go, Java, C, and C++ remain experimental.

The extension also provides manual completion triggering, automatic suggestions, language-specific model configuration, and native inline completion behavior.

Testing and availability

The v1.2.0 stable release includes automated cross-platform build checks, mocked Ollama integration, VSIX package validation, and installation smoke testing.

Real-model performance measurements, manual editor verification across operating systems, and hands-on accessibility checks remain ongoing.
