LateBrake v0.5.82 — Tire Condition, Nitro & Slipstream¶
SOURCE-ONLY GitHub pre-release. This is NOT a playable game build. No compiled Win64 EXE, Android APK/AAB, or installed game is included. GitHub-generated source archives are not installers. This snapshot has zero executable binaries, is not an Unreal Engine 5.8 packaged build, and does not establish that installed driving gameplay works.
Changes since v0.5.81¶
ARCADE TIRE condition — shared race-local grip behavior¶
- A finite, bounded source policy estimates tire condition from measured planar/lateral rigid-body chassis speed and effective braking demand.
- Sustained lateral sliding and hard braking increase arcade wear/heat and reduce only the existing frame-stable chassis lateral damping, with a minimum 68% multiplier.
- Both the human driver and the physical rival participate; an accepted new race resets conditions, but pause, interruption and ordinary recovery do not silently repair worn tires.
- This is NOT a real tire compound, wheel collision or suspension model. Tire condition QA.
NITRO BOOST — held human acceleration ability¶
- Press and hold B (keyboard) or left gamepad thumbstick click during eligible human forward racing. Bounded energy, heat, regeneration and cooldown make the power-up finite and require a fresh press after thermal cutoff or depletion.
- The prototype applies at most 38% extra baseline forward motor force and a smoothed speed-cap target increase of at most 12%.
- Reject nonfinite frame/velocity, braking, reverse, bad physics, missing controller, menu, pause, focus loss, recovered/stale input, and finished racing. AI does not receive human nitro commands. This is not real nitrous chemistry or engine thermodynamics.
- Nitro input, source and hardware QA.
SLIPSTREAM — measured single-rival racecraft¶
- A local human following the genuine valid moving rival can earn a position-dependent arcade advantage of at most +6% motor force only after at least 0.18 seconds of continuous qualification.
- Real position, planar headings, signed speeds, line alignment and separation must satisfy bounded and physically plausible thresholds. Oncoming, behind, too distant, off-lane, vertically separated, stationary, invalid, finished and missing rivals cannot yield a bonus.
- Drafting never controls AI steering/braking, official lap times, checkpoints, credit payouts, saved garage profiles or race records. It is not an aerodynamics simulation or multiplayer position tracker.
- Slipstream source and gameplay QA.
Combined engine-force budget¶
- When nitro and valid drafting coincide, a final finite source policy caps the total additive motor-force benefit to 40%. Nitro's charge-consuming share takes priority; full +38% nitro leaves at most +2% granted drafting. With nitro inactive, qualified drafting remains capped at +6%. The desktop drafting readout reports the actually applied share, not the preallocation potential.
- Portable tests stress hundreds of thousands of input combinations; the feature remains an unverified UE rigid-body arcade prototype.
Qualification policy¶
Before this release can publish, the publisher independently runs the entire portable C++20 suite on Windows, macOS and Ubuntu, plus focused tests for ArcadeTireCondition, ArcadeNitroBoost, SlipstreamDraftBoost, ArcadeBoostArbitration and the existing race stability/input guards. It also runs Python Unreal-source contracts (without the Unreal runtime), synthetic Windows PowerShell package-provenance checks and MkDocs documentation verification at one immutable main SHA.
Tag publication refuses unexpected main advancement, a changed or binary-attached v0.5.81 source pre-release, or a conflicting v0.5.82 tag. There is no packaging job and no downloadable compiled game attachment.
Remaining game-build gate¶
- Actual licensed Unreal Engine 5.8/UHT Editor and Game compilation.
- Authentic project-owned cooked racing circuit, collision and start grid.
- Genuine Win64 and Android installable candidate binaries with hashes.
- Installed-device controls, steering, nitro, wear, slipstream, rivals, pausing, recovery, save, lap/credits, performance and hardware QA.
- Keep playable game gate #148 and Android device gate #13 open pending real evidence.
