LateBrake v0.5.81 — Camera, Handbrake & Brake Telemetry¶
SOURCE-ONLY GitHub pre-release. This is NOT a playable game build. No compiled Win64 EXE, Android APK/AAB or installed game is included. GitHub-generated source archives are not installers. This source snapshot has zero executable binaries and is not a licensed Unreal Engine cook.
Changes since v0.5.80¶
Visual camera handling¶
- The local human race camera now gradually adjusts its lens by up to six degrees from genuine positive chassis forward speed, bounded by the selected preset and disabled for AI controllers, reverse and rear view.
- Camera adjustments reset on invalid physics, pause, restart, recovery and interrupted focus. They never alter vehicle forces or race results.
Player-held prototype handbrake¶
- Hold Left Shift or right gamepad stick click for a separate prototype handbrake action. On the existing single-Chaos-body vehicle it gates motor throttle, reduces lateral resistance and applies bounded longitudinal braking. The original service BRAKE still takes precedence when both are held.
- A desktop HUD flag indicates held handbrake state. Pauses, menus, focus loss, restart, recovery and control release clear the input.
- This is not a new rear-wheel tire simulation, ABS or hydraulic model.
Observed braking feedback¶
- The noncompact HUD can show a guarded in-game stopping-distance projection at the current rate of deceleration, with meters or feet following existing speed-display settings.
- It requires multiple consecutive, finite, physically plausible chassis speed samples while braking. Single commands, reverse, sideways slides, unrealistic speed jumps, collisions and interrupts cannot produce stale or unearned distances. It is not a reliable real-world stopping-distance instrument.
- This telemetry affects no credits, times, saved records or physics.
Release qualification¶
The publisher builds and tests the entire portable C++20 suite on Windows, Ubuntu and macOS, and explicitly checks production policies for speed-reactive camera FOV, held look-back, handbrake, measured braking distance, frame-stable damping and race progress. It runs Unreal-source Python contracts (without Unreal), synthetic PowerShell package-policy fixtures and MkDocs site integrity checks at the exact immutable main-branch commit.
Publishing fails if main advances during qualification, the prior v0.5.80 source pre-release unexpectedly changes status/attachments, or v0.5.81 already points elsewhere. No executable assets are attached.
Real installed gameplay still required¶
- Licensed Unreal Engine 5.8 UHT/Editor/Game compilation and an authentic project-owned cookable original circuit map.
- Actual Windows and Android packages with verifiable provenance.
- Real installed driving QA for brakes, human-only handbrake, camera framing, performance, pause/focus interruption, race timing, ghosts and save/restart. Retain exact package hashes and logs.
- Keep playable qualification #148 and Android hardware qualification #13 open pending physical tests.
