LateBrake v0.5.80 — Driving Stability, Rival AI & Race Camera¶
SOURCE-ONLY GitHub pre-release. This is NOT a playable game build. No compiled Win64 EXE, Android APK/AAB or installed game is included. GitHub-generated source archives are not installers. This source snapshot has zero executable binaries; it is not a licensed Unreal Engine cook.
New source since v0.5.79¶
Rival and lap information¶
- Best-lap ghost separation estimate: bounded observational distance feedback to the run-local best-lap reference beacon. No official scoring, saved ghost, or multiplayer opponent is invented.
- Guarded ghost display input: source policies for a desktop/controller toggle and Android touch pad keep visibility separate from race physics and results.
- Predictive following brake: AI uses signed longitudinal closing speed, finite time-to-contact and bounded brake hysteresis for safer in-lane following. It must not mistake sideways drift for an impending collision.
Physics, controls, and camera¶
- Frame-stable damping: bounded grip/braking/reverse resistance prevents oversized forces from transient frame hitches; real Chaos handling must still be tested in Unreal.
- Android neutral steering band: reduced center jitter and immediate residual steering cancellation, preserving independent pedals.
- Chassis slip-angle readout: live signed direction-of-travel estimate and read-only session peaks in the expanded desktop HUD/Results; this is not a tire slip or stability-control model.
- Held look-back camera: hold V or the gamepad left shoulder for a rear view, release to restore the selected preset; pause, restart, recovery and focus loss clear the transient view.
Source-only release qualification¶
The publisher independently compiles and runs the entire portable C++20 suite on Windows, Ubuntu and macOS for its own immutable main commit, plus focused tests for ghost separation/visibility, rival following, frame-stable damping, chassis slip and held camera. It runs the Unreal-source Python contracts, synthetic PowerShell packaging-policy fixtures and MkDocs checks.
The workflow refuses to publish if main advances during validation, the prior v0.5.79 release has binaries or unexpected status, or the immutable tag points elsewhere. No game assets or binaries are attached. Source CI is not Unreal Header Tool compilation, a cooked level, UAT packaging or real device testing.
Real playable-release gates remain open¶
- Build licensed Unreal Engine 5.8 Editor/Game targets through UHT and verify a genuine original cooked circuit.
- Produce real Windows and Android game candidates with complete provenance; install and run them on representative hardware.
- Measure gameplay handling, traffic, ghost, camera collision/framing, touch release, focus interruptions, frame-time, races and save/restart using genuine game logs and package hashes.
- Keep playable qualification issue #148 and Android qualification #13 open until actual tests succeed.
SOURCE-ONLY. NOT a playable game build. zero executable binaries. Source archives are not installers.
