LateBrake v0.5.74 — Signed Human Controller Deadzones

SOURCE-ONLY GitHub pre-release. This is NOT a playable game build. No compiled Win64 EXE, Android APK/AAB or installed game is included. GitHub source archives are not installers; this candidate carries zero executable binaries. Unreal Engine 5.8/UHT, an original cooked track, verified Win64/Android packages and installed playtests remain outstanding.

v0.5.74 source improvements over v0.5.73

  • A pure C++20 human controller-input deadzone policy filters signed steering input through a 12% symmetric center zone, and throttle/reverse triggers through a 5.5% symmetric zone. The rest of each analog axis is smoothly remapped back onto its full range; -1 and +1 keyboard/analog extremes remain full authority, while centered controller jitter outputs exactly zero.
  • The policy is installed in the actual UE pawn's SteerInput and ThrottleInput player callbacks, not the autonomous rival SetAutonomousControls route or separate Android touch pads.
  • Nonfinite/raw-out-of-range inputs and invalid thresholds are rejected or bounded, without affecting ordinary brake commands, existing input-focus interruption, vehicle handling, race clock, rewards, save schema, online accounts or leaderboards.
  • Strict portable C++20 tests cover sign symmetry, deadzone threshold, continuous scaled travel, full keyboard/trigger endpoints, dense monotonic sweep, NaN/Infinity and malformed configuration. Python tests check the real Unreal callback wiring and actual keyboard/gamepad DefaultInput.ini mappings.

Source-only release conditions

The independently authorized GitHub source preview publisher checks out the same exact immutable main SHA on Ubuntu, Windows and macOS, compiles and runs all strict C++20 portable tests (especially DriveAxisDeadzone, DriverInputSafety, DriftComboMeter), checks all Unreal-source-only Python tests, synthetic PowerShell package and provenance rejection fixtures, and rendered documentation integrity. It rejects moved main, rewritten tags, executable assets and an unqualified previous v0.5.73 source-only pre-release.

Playable release blocked on engine and device evidence

A licensed UE 5.8 Editor/UHT/game compilation, original cooked circuit .umap, authenticated Win64 executable and Android APK/AAB, real gamepad/keyboard/touch input measurements and actual installed driving QA are essential. Console firmware, controller calibration differences, focus loss and split trigger motion need hardware tests. See analog input QA and playable gate #148.

SOURCE-ONLY. NOT a playable game build, zero executable binaries, and source archives are not installers. Original LateBrake source follows BSD-3-Clause; Unreal Engine and engine assets follow their separate applicable Epic terms.
