LateBrake v0.5.65 — Rival Awareness and HUD Integrity (SOURCE-ONLY Pre-release)

SOURCE-ONLY GitHub pre-release. This is NOT a playable game build. No compiled Win64 EXE, Android APK/AAB or installed playable game is included. GitHub-generated source archives are not installers; no runtime assets, project cook output, or executables are attached. This is a source preview with zero executable binaries.

New gameplay-source features since v0.5.60

This release groups merged source-only development into one independently tested snapshot. Intermediate v0.5.61–v0.5.64 source milestones were not separate GitHub binary or source releases.

  • Verified rival radar: expanded HUD circuit map now shows a true live physics-ready rival marker, actual player heading, next official scoring gate and finite direct planar separation in metres.
  • Off-track return guidance: route back to the original four paved circuit rectangles after a sustained off-track warning, with bounded nearest-road direction/distance advice.
  • Rival corner AI refinement: inbound-to-gate corridor checks prevent corner anticipation from relying on radial proximity across wrong lanes.
  • Close-opponent warning: sustained direct separation within 15m for 0.6s displays an advisory on desktop/compact HUD, retained through 20m hysteresis and reset on racing-state discontinuities.
  • New signed rival motion trend: finite, real consecutive radar readings indicate CLOSING or SEPARATING after 0.4s of sustained >=2m/s direct distance change. Teleport-sized jumps, unavailable bodies, invalid frames, race interruptions and noisy low-speed movement do not fabricate warnings.
  • Unreal HUD compile-scope correction: the results-screen branch no longer references a local Race variable before its C++ declaration.

All new trends/warnings are HUD-only advice. They do not predict contact, rank racers, infer relative lap gaps, modify player/rival vehicle physics, apply penalties, alter checkpoint validity, save data or career rewards.

Source qualification and release integrity

The CI-gated pre-release publisher independently reruns against the exact immutable source candidate:

  • Standalone strict C++20 build and full ctest suite on Windows, Ubuntu and macOS, plus explicit production-linked RaceMiniMap, RivalProximityIndicator and RivalRelativeMotion regressions.
  • Python Unreal-source binding checks, including actual game-mode rival validation and real HUD callsite/scope contracts.
  • Windows PowerShell syntax and negative synthetic packaging, provenance, engine/map-identity and candidate-manifest policies.
  • Pinned MkDocs build and documentation-link/structure verification.

This validation is not an Unreal Engine build. The following remain outstanding: licensed Unreal Engine 5.8 UHT/Editor compilation, real four-gate .umap cook, Windows and Android game-target compilation, true installed Win64 EXE / Android APK/AAB candidates, Chaos physics playtests, device touch/focus interruptions and verified performance. See docs/RIVAL_RELATIVE_MOTION_QA.md and open Android QA issue #13.

Honest distribution status

There are zero executable binaries attached to this pre-release. Source archives are not compiled programs, launchers, games or installers. Do not market the release as a stable/fully playable racing game.
