LateBrake v0.5.43 — Fail-Safe Manual PAUSE Intent¶
SOURCE-ONLY GitHub pre-release. This is NOT a playable game build. No compiled Win64 EXE, Android APK/AAB, or installed playable game is included. GitHub-generated source ZIP/tar.gz archives are not installers.
Changes since v0.5.42¶
- MANUAL PAUSE FALLBACK: A standalone ESC, controller or Android PAUSE press now sets a dedicated engine-independent
ManualRacePauseGuardlatch before calling fallible UnrealSetGamePaused(true). If Unreal continues ticking without pausing, competitive race timing and scoring remain blocked instead of continuing behind an unacknowledged PAUSE request. - Consistent race-state lockdown: Every relevant Unreal source consumer observes the fallback—GameMode elapsed clock, ordered checkpoint awards, paid recovery, checkpoint motion sampling, autonomous rival, player chassis force/torque, driving touch dispatch and HUD display. The HUD shows PAUSED even when the Unreal world is not paused.
- Clean manual resume: A genuinely new PAUSE press, deliberate return from menu or accepted race restart may clear the manual latch. Application foreground notifications alone cannot resume racing. Both failed PAUSE and later manual resume advance checkpoint motion-session generation so old gate approach points cannot score after resumption.
- New regressions:
ManualRacePauseGuardTests.cppintegrates the realRaceProgress.cpp, checkpoint session trace, focus guard, recovery, rival and player readiness to simulate rejected engine PAUSE/UNPAUSE. Python source-binding tests require the latch in all actual Unreal C++ call sites. The older focus-policy mutation test is updated to validate the combined guard. - Device QA instructions: Expanded Android touch testing instructions include normal pause, controlled denied
SetGamePausedand resume/focus-loss scenarios.
Verification and source-only limits¶
PR #115 passed the Windows, Ubuntu and macOS strict portable C++20 suites, Python source-contract checks, PowerShell packaging policy and docs build, then merged as 8d5cd3d3576877f4efa79f696be6d318d2d95e8a. The independent source publisher pins that exact immutable commit for the three-OS suite and focused ManualRacePauseGuard CTest, reruns Python and packaging policies, verifies published asset-free v0.5.42, prevents rewritten tags and refuses executable attachments.
Unverified: licensed UE 5.8 Editor/UHT/game compilation; runtime SetGamePaused failure on actual Unreal; Chaos chassis physics, UI tick/input dispatch while paused, gate collision, original authored/cooked /Game/Maps/LatebrakeCircuit, packaged Windows EXE/Android APK/AAB, real installed gameplay and hardware touch. The source test fixture does not simulate Unreal's actual event loop.
Remaining playable-game qualification¶
- Compile with a licensed Unreal Engine 5.8 editor toolchain; fix actual compiler/UHT errors.
- Author and cook the genuine serialized circuit level, retain exact map hash and build logs.
- Package and install verifiable Win64 and Android candidates with pinned source, engine and binary manifests.
- Test normal and artificially denied manual PAUSE, explicit resume, OS focus loss, touch release, physics momentum, checkpoints, rivals, recovery charges, race awards and save persistence on devices.
- Attach evidence to real checkpoint QA #31 and Android qualification #13; do not label this preview playable until then.
