LateBrake v0.5.40 — Per-Lap Active Timing and Reward Integrity

SOURCE-ONLY GitHub pre-release. This is NOT a playable game build. No compiled Win64 EXE, Android APK/AAB, or installed playable game is included. GitHub-generated source ZIP/tar.gz archives are not installers.

Changes since v0.5.39

  • ACTIVE LAP CLOCK: RaceProgress now tracks the number of completed laps containing a genuine successful Advance call, independent of penalty-inclusive timed-lap counts. Only an actually representable advancing clock update qualifies; invalid deltas and recovery time charges do not create that evidence.
  • Award integrity: The shared engine-independent FinishTimingEligibility.h rejects an ordered finish for awards when any completed lap is zero duration or entirely recovery-penalty time, or when elapsed/best/last/slowest times are not recordable. This is an additional safeguard, not proof of physical vehicle movement.
  • Authoritative integration: Unreal GameMode consults the same eligibility rule before updating credits, medals, completed-race counters, personal bests or player SaveGame. Invalid results remain visibly rejected.
  • Result honesty: Finished-race insights and HUD/results cannot present an invalid gate-complete run as an awardable timed finish. Existing valid race behavior and penalty-inclusive split timing are preserved.
  • Tests: Portable FinishTimingEligibilityTests.cpp uses the real RaceProgress.cpp for valid 2-lap racing, zero-duration laps, penalty-only first/final laps, rejected deltas, overlong clocks, resets and a valid one-gate event. Editor source-binding checks assert real GameMode award ordering and HUD integration.

Verified scope and limitations

The v0.5.40 implementation merged from PR #106 after Windows, Ubuntu and macOS C++20 portable tests, Python source-binding policies, PowerShell package-policy fixtures and documentation build passed. The independent release workflow pins tested merge commit 9f78ba4af2c4271f3effca9ce54a63e8d423ea89, repeats the full source test matrix and isolated FinishTimingEligibility case, verifies previous source-only release v0.5.39, and creates an asset-free immutable GitHub prerelease.

Not qualified: licensed Unreal Engine 5.8 Editor/UHT/game compilation, cooked serialized project-owned circuit map, actual checkpoint/Chaos runtime physics and race-clock behavior, installed Win64/Android gameplay, OS suspension or real hardware touch tests. This release has zero downloadable executable assets.

Remaining playable-game qualification

  1. Compile the LateBrake Unreal Editor and game targets under an authorized Unreal Engine 5.8 installation.
  2. Create and cook original /Game/Maps/LatebrakeCircuit, confirm real collision and ordered gate traces.
  3. Produce real verified Windows and Android candidate packages with exact source/map provenance.
  4. Install and test normal multi-lap race wins, recovery, zero/penalty-only invalid timing scenarios, pause/focus loss, rewards/SaveGame persistence and UI on device.
  5. Attach exact build-linked QA evidence to Unreal checkpoint issue #31 and Android qualification issue #13 before labeling any game playable.
