LateBrake v0.5.20 — Strict Timed Lap History

SOURCE-ONLY GitHub pre-release. This is NOT a playable game build. No compiled Win64 EXE, Android APK/AAB, or installed racing game is included. GitHub-generated source ZIP/tar.gz archives are source, not installers.

Improvements over source-only v0.5.19

  • Strict completed-lap sequence: The bounded RecentTimedLaps buffer rejects equal or decreasing completed-lap numbers, so replayed/duplicated events cannot silently replace the authoritative last-lap data.
  • Preserved ring-buffer semantics: The most recent eight legitimate timed laps survive rejections correctly even after the ring wraps. Skipped but increasing IDs remain valid; reset clears the previous attempt's history.
  • Regression tests: The original portable RecentTimedLapsTests.cpp suite now checks duplicates, backdated writes, wrapping, next valid insertion, and clean race reset. Portable RaceProgress and race-pace projections remain independently tested.
  • No invented records: The source validation neither invents competitive finish times nor awards player credits based on invalid lap history.

Release verification and dependencies

The dedicated workflow requires a published, asset-free v0.5.19 GitHub source-only pre-release, then runs the full portable C++20 CMake/CTest suite on Ubuntu, Windows, and macOS. It explicitly builds latebrake_recent_timed_laps_tests and earlier rival-route/readiness tests. Windows PowerShell syntax/negative package policy and Python editor-only stub checks must pass before immutable tagging. A release is published only if main still matches the exact tested commit. No executable artifacts are attached.

This is NOT a playable game build. Licensed Unreal Engine 5.8 Editor/UHT/game compilation, genuine cooked map and track packages, Win64/Android installable builds, real race-session instrumentation, actual steering physics, device touch and frame timing remain UNVERIFIED. Do not mistake source ZIP/tar.gz for executables.

Before a playable release: compile and cook the original track in Unreal, package real Win64 and Android builds, verify on supported hardware and record package SHA256 plus real QA in checkpoint issue #31 and Android issue #13.

The original LateBrake source is BSD-3-Clause. Epic Unreal Engine software and assets are licensed separately by Epic.

Source preview only — zero executable attachments.
